Frequently asked questions
1Are photo challenges included in the free plan?
No, and we would rather put that here than in the small print. The free Starter plan includes the gallery with up to 50 photos, 15 uploaders and no videos — but no photo challenges, no points, no achievements, no leaderboard and no photo wall. Photo challenges, points, achievements and the leaderboard start at Premium (69 €). The photo wall for the screen is included from Plus (39 €), and redeemable rewards with real stock only in Deluxe (119 €).
2Do our guests have to install an app?
No. Guests open the link or scan the QR code and land in the browser on their phone — no app store, no download. For points and the leaderboard the guest types in a name once, so photos can be attributed to someone. And to stay honest: anyone who deliberately puts their phone away, or does not have one, will not take part in the tasks. That is where printed cards remain the better companion, not the enemy.
3Can we still put the tasks on the tables?
Yes. Tasks can be printed straight from the task list, and the Design Studio has its own template types for task and achievement cards whose QR code points directly at the task in question. Like the tasks themselves, those cards are part of the Premium plan. One more important limit: we only supply the file. Photogala does not print and does not ship — you take the result to your print shop or to your own printer.
4When is the winner decided?
When you decide it. The final standing is copied when it is frozen, not merely displayed — otherwise a photo deleted later could lower the points retroactively and change the winner after the fact. Freezing happens in the admin area at the press of a button, or on the next retrieval. There is no reliable service in this setup that does it automatically at midnight sharp, so plan the award ceremony so that someone presses the button beforehand.
5Can tasks be unlocked later in the day?
Yes, through the advanced conditions. A task can have an unlock time and a lock time, be tied to a minimum or maximum score, require other tasks to be solved first, demand contributions to particular tasks or albums, or require a minimum number of uploads. That way the dance floor tasks stay invisible during the day and only appear in the evening. These conditions are part of the Premium plan too.
6Does it cost us anything to prepare this months in advance?
No. Your plan's runtime does not start when you create the event, but with the first photos in the gallery — with the first one for free events, with the tenth for paid ones. So you can assemble the task list, the points and the cards long in advance without the clock running. Your own uploads in the Design Studio or the admin area do not count towards it.
7How does a real reward work?
A reward has stock, so the free drink is not handed out thirty times. When a guest meets the condition, the card with the redeemable achievement appears on their phone. They claim the reward, show it at the bar, and staff confirm receipt right there on the screen. This feature exists exclusively in the Deluxe plan — points, achievements and the leaderboard work from Premium without it.
