How accurate is the capacity calculator?
Our calculator uses industry-standard space allocations per person for each layout type. Results are reliable estimates — actual capacity may vary based on furniture size and room shape.
What layout types are supported?
We support 6 layouts: Theater (rows of chairs), Banquet (round tables), Cocktail (standing), Classroom (tables with chairs), U-Shape (conference), and Cabaret (half-round tables).
How does the safety margin work?
In Advanced mode, you can set a safety margin percentage (default 15%) that reduces the usable area. This accounts for fire code requirements, emergency exits, and comfortable movement.
Can I account for obstacles like a stage or bar?
Yes! In Advanced mode, add obstacles (stage, bar, dance floor, DJ booth, buffet) with custom dimensions. The calculator automatically subtracts their area from the usable space.
What units are supported?
You can switch between metric (meters) and imperial (feet) units. The calculator handles the conversion automatically.
How much space per person do I need?
It depends on the layout: Theater needs 0.75m² per person, Cocktail standing 0.5m², Banquet rounds 1.5m², Classroom 1.8m², U-Shape 2.5m², and Cabaret 1.7m² per person.
