Can I install Photogala as an app?
You do not need an app: Photogala runs entirely in the browser. The event link or QR code is enough, on a phone just as much as on a computer.
You can still put the gallery on your home screen like an app. That does not turn it into a separate program – it is a shortcut with its own icon.
On iPhone or iPad
Section titled “On iPhone or iPad”-
Open the gallery in Safari.
-
Tap the share icon at the bottom – the square with the arrow pointing up.
-
Scroll down the list and pick the entry for adding it to the home screen.
-
Confirm the name. The icon then sits among your other apps.
On Android
Section titled “On Android”-
Open the gallery in Chrome.
-
Tap the menu with the three dots at the top right.
-
Pick the entry for installing it, or for adding it to the home screen. The wording differs slightly between Android and Chrome versions.
-
Confirm – done.

What it gives you – and what it does not
Section titled “What it gives you – and what it does not”What it gives you:
- An icon of its own on the home screen, so you no longer have to hunt for the link.
- It starts without the browser’s address bar – it looks and feels like an app.
What it does not give you:
- No notifications on your device. Photogala does not send push messages. You see updates inside the open event or receive them by email – see Notifications.
- No gallery without internet. Photos are loaded live; you cannot browse the gallery offline.

Nothing to find in the app stores
Section titled “Nothing to find in the app stores”Do not bother searching: there is no Photogala app in the App Store or on Google Play. Everything runs through the browser.
