How many photos can I upload?
Usually you can upload plenty. The important part: limits belong to the event, not to you personally. There is no account balance and no quota that applies only to you — all guests share the same limits, and the host sets them through their plan.
Four separate limits
Section titled “Four separate limits”An event can have up to four different caps. They count independently of each other:
- Photos — the number of pictures in the gallery.
- Videos — a separate limit of its own. The photo limit can be reached while videos still work, and the other way round.
- Uploaders — how many people may contribute. You only count once you have uploaded at least one picture. Just looking doesn’t count: viewers take up no space.
- Storage — how much room all the files may take up together.
When a limit is reached
Section titled “When a limit is reached”You notice it right away, no need to do the maths yourself.
While the upload is still running, Photogala warns you as soon as only part of it can go through — for example Photo limit reached. Only videos can be uploaded. or, the other way round, Video limit reached. Only photos can be uploaded.
If something didn’t make it, a red box appears at the end titled Upload Limits Reached!, with one line per affected limit and the number of files concerned:
- Photo limit reached
- Video limit reached
- Uploader limit reached — plus: “The maximum number of uploaders has been reached for this event”
- Storage limit exceeded
Below that comes the reassuring part: “Your photo isn’t lost — right now nobody can upload.” and “The host can unlock this in two minutes.”
Letting the host know
Section titled “Letting the host know”The same box has a Let the host know button. It hands you a ready-made message including a link — via your phone’s share sheet where available, otherwise on the clipboard (“Message copied — send it to the host”). You then forward that message yourself, by messenger for example.
