For moderators

As a moderator you keep the gallery clean and safe – and you do it without full admin access: you approve or hide submitted photos, handle reports from guests, and restrict individual guests when needed. This section brings together everything you need as a moderator.

Are you in the right place?

• A guest who just wants to know how to report a photo? → Reporting content in the For guests section.
• A moderator who wants to review, approve, or restrict guests? → You’re in the right place.
• A host/owner setting up the event? → For hosts – that’s also where you assign moderator roles.

Who can moderate?

Anyone with the role moderator or higher can moderate – moderators, admins, and the owner. The owner assigns the role in Roles & permissions, so helpers can moderate without seeing the full event settings. Without that role, moderation isn’t even visible.

How to reach moderation

Moderation lives in two places – with the same interface. Which route you take depends only on whether you have an admin area.

As a moderator: through the profile menu

Moderators move around in the same gallery as the guests. For them the profile menu is the way in – and that route always works.

1. In the gallery, tap your profile picture or avatar in the top right. The profile menu opens.

   Reach moderation through the profile menu in the top right – the entry only appears from the moderator role upwards. ① your points and solved tasks, ② Profile options with My Profile, Language, Theme and Help, ③ Management with Account Settings, Moderation and Admin Portal – this section is missing until you hold a role for it, ④ Account with Sign out.

2. Under Management, choose the Moderation entry (flag icon). A red counter shows the total of open reports and pending media, so you can see at a glance whether there’s anything to do. The counter updates in real time, whichever gallery page you happen to be on.

As a host or admin: in the admin area

If you have the admin area, you no longer have to leave it: moderation is a page of its own in there.

1. Open the admin area (profile menu top right → Admin Portal).

2. In the sidebar, under the Gallery group, click Review & Reports. The counter on the entry counts what is still waiting for a decision: waiting uploads plus open reports.

3. The same sections also appear as sub-entries in the sidebar – but not always all four: Banned Users and Reports are always there, Media only with approval switched on (or while photos are still queued), and Face Clusters only with face recognition switched on.

In the admin area moderation is called “Review & Reports” – same screen, just inside the admin frame. ① the tab row Media, Banned Users and Reports – Media only appears when review is part of your plan or uploads are still queued; Face Clusters slots in between as soon as face recognition is part of the plan and switched on for the event, ② the status row Pending, Unpublished and Published, each with its count next to it, ③ Review one by one starts the run with keyboard shortcuts; while the current list is empty the button stays greyed out.

Same screen, different address

Both routes show exactly the same interface. The only difference is the parameter that selects the section: ?tab= in the admin area, ?section= on the guest-side page.

The moderation panel in the gallery

For a quick round of checks you don’t have to leave the gallery at all: above the photo grid, everyone who is allowed to moderate gets a slim bar – the moderation panel. Guests never see it.

On desktop it has two rows: a header with the link into the full dashboard, and the status filter below it.

On a phone there’s no room for a header and a link. A large button sits above the status filter instead.

How the host switches the panel on or off

The panel is on by default. The host can switch it off – the button and the status filter then disappear from the gallery too.

1. In the admin area, open Settings → Moderation & Safety.

2. Flip the switch on Show approval bar in the gallery.

3. Save Changes – without that click nothing changes.

Panel off doesn't mean moderation off

The switch only hides the bar in the gallery. Approval, reports and bans keep running exactly as before – see Moderation & safety.

Approving & moderating photosReview uploads, approve or hide them, go through them one by one, run bulk actions – on the moderation page, under “Review & Reports” in the admin area, in the gallery's moderation panel and in fullscreen.

Handling reportsThe Reports tab is the only one that is always available – no feature switch, no plan requirement. Dismiss, unpublish or delete.

Banning & restricting usersRestrict individual guests in a targeted way – from blocking uploads to disabling comments, with reasons and reversible any time.

Managing face clustersName, merge, split, hide/show detected people and set a preview image (when face recognition is on).

What the tabs look like

Reports – every report with its thumbnail, the reason and the reporter’s message. Three actions: Dismiss, Unpublish, Delete.

The Reports tab – the only one that is always available, whatever the plan and whatever the event's switches say.

Banned Users – every restriction at a glance, filtered by category (All, Uploads, Comments, Nickname, Profile Picture). Any ban can be lifted again at any time.

Face Clusters – only with face recognition switched on. This is where you name detected people, merge groups and hide individual ones.

What is always there – and what depends on the event

Reports and Banned Users are always present – no matter which of the two routes you come in through. The Media tab only appears when approval is required or when pending or unpublished photos exist; the Face Clusters tab only with AI face processing active. If a tab is missing for you, that’s down to the event – not to your role.

Example

The host has switched approval on. During the party guests upload 14 photos and two of them get reported. Next to Moderation in the profile menu a red 16 then appears – 14 waiting uploads plus 2 open reports. Approve the photos and the counter drops to 2 live; only once both reports are decided does it disappear entirely.
